Recently, I received a message from T-Mobile to upgrade to the One Plus plan for $5 a month. I read up on the benefits of this and one of the intriguing ones was unlimited inflight GoGo Wifi. This seems like a rather amazing benefit for that price. There are also a couple of other benefits: voicemail transcription and faster data internationally, which is also quite the perk, since the difference between 2G and 3G is quite stark.
I went to my local T-Mobile store to ask about this, and was told that since I signed up during a promotional period that this benefit was already on my account. This was a bit of pleasant news, and it makes sense, since during my recent trips to Chile and Mexico, I did notice that I was on 3G all the time. Though it may seem like digging into the past of our memories, the difference between 3G and 2G is quite stark.
I am going to test out the wifi on my next flight that has GoGo Wifi. It’s a bit unclear if this works on international flights but the T-Mobile website states that the wifi is available for all “US based carriers.” Also, this benefit does not work on laptops, only phones and possibly tablets that are associated with T-Mobile data plans. If you don’t have this benefit on your plan, for $5 it is quite the deal for at least two valuable benefits, particularly for frequent travelers.
